Our external and internal audiences include Canadians with cystic fibrosis and the vast CF community and stakeholders who support them. These include families, volunteers, donors, researchers, healthcare professionals, government, corporate partners, and Cystic Fibrosis Canada?s staff at the national office and in the field.
This position reports to the Program Director and is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned communications professional with demonstrated experience in digital and social media. The Public Relations and Advocacy Communications Team is comprised of a Program Director (Team Leader), a Senior Associate, an Associate and an Intern.
Responsibilities
Web Content Management (CF Canada?s national website)
Design and execute content strategy
Work with internal clients on the development and publishing of content
Analyse and report on key metrics and statistics for the purposes of understanding and optimizing web usage
Monitor the website to ensure optimal functioning and resolve technical issues
Liaise with our external agency (vendor)
Social Media
Ensure a strong presence on approved social media networks, including YouTube, Twitter and Facebook
Engaging with followers and/or community members on our social media networks appropriately and professionally
Create, maintain and execute a social media editorial calendar and posting schedule
Increase awareness of CF, CF Canada, current advocacy issues and fundraising campaigns/events using social media
Monitor and report on the success of social media initiatives based on an analysis of key metrics and statistics
Identify and report on social media trends
Be the in-house social media subject-matter expert, and coach staff and volunteers on the effective use of social media
Online Patient Engagement
Take on the role of the Administrator of My Cystic Fibrosis Canada Network, an online social network for CF patients
Monitor, analyze and report on key metrics and statistics for the purposes of understanding and optimizing usage
Work closely with community peer volunteers in editorial administration, oversight, and management
Consult with clinical key opinion leaders to ascertain accuracy of medical information posted on the network
Monitor the network to ensure optimal functioning and resolve technical issues
Liaise with our external agency (vendor)
Corporate Communications
As required, support members of the team in delivering on a wide range of communications materials, including writing speaking notes, key messages, news releases, media advisories, fact sheets, articles
As needed, support the creation, editorial planning, writing, layout, graphics, and production of various internal and external communications products
As required, participate in media outreach activities, advocacy initiatives and special events
Qualifications
A university degree in communications or marketing; a combination of education in a related field with relevant paid work experience in digital and social media may be considered
Be web and social media savvy ? you must be an avid social media user
Three years of work experience in a similar role is ideal
A track record in web content management, social media and corporate communications demonstrated through work experience
Excellent writing, organizational and time-management skills
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, with excellent attention to detail
Be responsive, focused, available and flexible (social media doesn?t run on a nine-to-five schedule)
Be a self-starter, team player and people person
Knowledge of French is an asset but not required
